Wireless Network Design

The key to any successful wireless system implementation, once the technology has been selected, is proper wireless network design planning prior to deployment. Failure to execute at this stage often results in cost overruns, gaps in coverage, and missed expectations.

Our team has adopted a streamlined approach to the RF network design phase. This approach minimizes rework so your wireless network goes live on-time. Our approach ensures that the site locations for wireless node deployment we identify are the right locations. This way you can avoid penalties associated with breaking site leasing contracts, or avoid unnecessary costs due to site over-selection.

At Precision Management, we recognize that the physical environment within which the wireless network is deployed has a significant impact on wireless network performance. For example, RF signals that carry broadband data packets become delayed or distorted by reflecting off buildings and streets, moving vehicles, trees, and other interferers. Without a good understanding of the physical environment, the network design will be plagued with poor performance and coverage.

Our team has experience in characterizing many outdoor environments from an RF perspective. We port field data and the knowledge we gain after performing site surveys and continuous wave (CW) measurements into our simulation tools, and use these tools to tune our models so as to determine a wireless network design that minimizes infrastructure cost and meets the network performance requirements. We recommend sites for acquisition based on this design, or we can constrain the design to already-secured or preferred sites.

Our expertise spans several wireless technologies including WiMAX 802.16e, CDMA, UMTS, HSPA, 802.11abg, GSM, GPRS, and DBV-H over a wide range of frequency bands. We have completed designs for many wireless product platforms from several equipment vendors. We are well-positioned to lead your RF network design activities, or supplement your existing design team.
